Traditional Greek Sandwiches - 19th September 11:30am
September 11, 2021
On Sunday 19th September from 11:30-13:30 we will once again be selling traditional Greek sandwiches at our church in honour of Angelina Lati. Angelina is the daughter of Hambi Lati, who was a member of our community before emigrating to Australia and granddaughter of George Lati (the barber) who is still part of our community here in Weston-Super-Mare.
Angelina was sadly diagnosed with an extremely rare terminal illness called Lafora Disease. Lafora disease is a neurological disease characterised by progressive myoclonus epilepsy, tonic-clonic seizures and childhood dementia. There is no known cure for the disease. The disease is so rare that Angelina is one of only 70 registered patients globally and the only known case in her home country of Australia.
Angelina had lived a normal life until a few years ago when she experienced her first seizure. Aged just 14, Angelina suddenly went from a "high achieving student who was energetic and bubbly" to someone completely dependent on her family.
On Sunday 19th We will be selling traditional Greek sandwiches and drinks in the grounds of our church, with all proceeds going to Angelina and her family to help aid her ongoing care and treatment.
This event proved extremely popular last time we ran it and we hope this time we can make it even more successful in honour of Angelina.
We look forward to seeing you next week and please remember to share this with friends and family.
If you can not attend but would like to make a donation then please contact any member of the committee
